His name is Oscar - you may think it's weird that I name my furniture but for me, it's a sentimental thing. This was my grandpa Oscar's table -so "his" name is "Oscar." It was a labor of love and some fine-tuning of my carpentry skills as I learned how to refurbish a table. I believe that it is important to reuse and refurbish as many items as we can - hence, my labor of love to restore Oscar. Lately, I have been feeling "my age" more acutely. It is not necessarily the actual number but more the idea that time, instead of marching, is sprinting ahead of me. Do you watch Ocean Conservation Namibia? If you don't, I highly recommend it; they are a Non-Profit organization that saves seals from us (yes, that is correct, HUMANS).

My husband got me started watching them, and I have to admit, it is addicting. It is also heart-wrenching yet an amazing example of the really good humans among us who are willing to make a difference.

It is hard to wrap our minds around the idea of cooler days as we are currently in the middle of a sweltering heat wave in the upper Midwest.
